On behalf of the memoers of the Collingwood District Collegiate Institute Board I have pleasure in extending greetings to the teachers and pupils of the Collingwood Collegiate Institute and also to the citizens of Collingwood and vicinity. The Board appreciates the co-operation of the Principal, Staff and Teachers in the advancement of the educational programme of the school and lrre believe :that all should feel proud of the excellent progress made.
The past year has been marked by the inauguration of the Col- lingwood District Collegiate Institute Board on January 1, 1951. The BJard has responf'ibility for the education of the secondary
school students of the township of Nottawasaga, Wasaga Beach Im- provement Area and part of the township of Sunnidale, including the operation of Creemore, Stayner and Singhampton. The Board is composed of representatives from the several communiti es . The Board is now ac- tively engaged in ,promoting the welfare of the student body in every possible way.
The growth and success of secondary education i~ Collingwood has been notable since its bt;ginning with a Grammer School in 1857. The subsequent develop!p~:1.t 0f the Collegi2te Institute attracted students from all parts of the p~ovince.
