COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES STAYNER HI
The highlight of our school year was the Annual Com- mencement, held on Thursday ::. nd Friday, November 22, 23, 19&1, at the Town Hall, Stayner, wh~ch was decorated with the s:!hool co~ours of red .and black.
The pro.gramme on b ort; h nights opened with the National Anthem, followed by some chor- al singing: "Angels We Have Heard On High,'' "0 Quit Your Pastures," "Slee!P of the Infant Jesus," "Deck the Halls." Thursday night, Mr. Mel Wright, a member of the Area Board, gave out the Intermed- i.a.te Diplomas to: Gloria Aikens, F'aye Bannerman, Wlylene Bow- man, Jean Brillinger, Sheldon
Culham, William Holt, James Laws, Kathleen Pipher, Brian Pounder, Doreen !Raymer, Ken- neth Richardson, Walter Shef- fer, Margaret Smith, Lloyd Som- merville, J.ames Walker amid Paul W ebb.
Following this, Area Board member Mr. Ernie Brock gave the Field \D<ay Trophies to: Jun- ior Girls, Hazel Gilchrist; Inter- mediate Girls, Catherine Baker; Junior Boys, Norman Besse; Ln- termediate Boys, Brian Pound- er: Senior Boys, Lloyd Somer- ville. Also at the Inter-S·chool meet Ft"'Zel Gilchrist won the ,Tunior Girls' Trophy.
On Friday night. Mr. George L. Cole oresented the Secondary R·chool Honour Graduation Dip- lomas to Airma Maquire and Joan McGill. Mr. Cole also pre-
sented the Secondary School Graduation Dilplomas (Grade
XII) to: Doreen Bell, June Cul- ham, Barbara \D1awson, Jessie Graham, JoatnlMcFarlane, Marl- lyn Raymer, Margaret Swinton
and Janet Tait.
Mr. G. B. Wheeler then pre-

The Girls' Choir presented some cheerful mlhSic, "That's My !Desire" tand "Harbour Lights," arranged by Mr. F . Boyd Wood. The mixed emsemble fol- lowed this up bv two fast lit.U~ ditties entitled, "Because You're You" and "Eiczht Little Tails." Minutes later, rthe boys and girls nut on a breath-taking exhibi- tion of tumbUn1g while the char- acters in the play "Double Dat-e" preoared themselves for the Oo'!rform<>nce which concluded

The students of Stayner High School launched a magazilne sellincz c.ampaiQ·n sponsored by t.he Maclean-Hnnter Publishing Com,panv. The campaign began on March 6 and ended March 24.
All po-nrular magazines such as Jllfqcleans. Chatelaine, Life and Time, etc., were featured in the cltm'Paign. The four Maclean- Hunter PIU.blications earned the studenlt two award points for
