DRAMA CLUB
"All the world's a stage." Shakespeare
The drama club of 1952-53 feels it has had a successful year. Our biggest accom- plishment was the annual Variety Nite. Two one act comedies, "The Angel Chile" and "Hanging Uncle Henry" were produced. A barber shop quartette and a Roaring Twenties review completed an enjoyable evening. The cast of "fhe Angel Chile" was as follows: Mae McDermid, mother; Gertie Waites,Sadie the maid; Mary Beynon, Amy the Angel Child; J. Munro, Phyllis the sister; Laverne Leal, Kenneth the brother. This was the cast of "Hanging Uncle Henry": David Beynon, the husband Hobart; Donna Allan, the wife Emily; Miriam Barlow, Emily's Aunt Clara; Dennis Allan, Hobart's Uncle George.
Some members of the drama club worked hard and put on an excellent one act Mexican play, "Sunday Cost Five Pesos", at the annual C.D.C.I. concert on March the nineteenth and twentieth. For this play the actors were: Alice Mcivor as Berta; Marlene Lane, Salome; Maxine Griesbach, Tonia; Mary McNichol, Celesteina; and Howard Dolson as Fidel.
We wish to thank the following for their help and co-operation: Mr. Watson, our efficient staff supervisor; Mrs. Carswell for help on costumes; Mr. Takimoto for his excellent work on scenery; and Art Scrannage for cheerfully helping with the painting and scenery. A big thank-you also goes to those who helped us with prompting, make-up and the other jobs which are so necessary.
The executive of the 1952-53 drama club was made up of the director, Audrey Richardson; the assistant director, Geraldine Ward; and the president, Jean Me Ivor.
Our year has been a pleasant one and one which is to be looked back on with satisfaction. We hope next year that you who are interested will join us and make a really smart drama club.
