I welcome this opportunity to extend greetings to all readers of "The Gleaner" - t o staff and students, as well as to those whose friendly interest in the activities of the C.D.C.I. will impel them to peruse these pages with eagerness and approval.
The Board of Education, in whose name I greet you, would like me to congratulate both the editorial staff of "The Gleaner" on their work in producing this Year Book, and the many con- tributors who have made the production possible. This edition of yo~r school maga~ine will be prized by all since it will be a suitable reminder of a year of transition and progress. Because of that feat, you will have some reward for your many hours of effort.
To the students, may I make this observation: In after years
you will ~ndoubtedly reread the literary contributions, ohuokle again at the humourous sallies, look onoe more at the many pictures contained herein. In the natural process of rememb- rance, you will then recall the years of planning and the final proud, achievement of your splendid C.D.~.I. building. May you, however, be particularly reminded of something more than the airy, bright surroundings and the most up-date-eauipment - namely, that hard-to-define "sohool spirit", engendered by a devotion to YOUR duty as members of this educational community. Only by manifesting such a "spirit" NOW will you be able to savour in retrospect the full rewards of having onoe been par- ticipants in this vast enterprise whioh your parents and friends, through their representatives on the Board, have planned and provided for YOU,

I tvould like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have made it possible for the publishing of this book. A special thanks to those who handed in material; to the form representatives; to the Gleaner Staff who gave much of their time and effort, and also to Mr. Connell for his never-failing assistance and guidance,
