THE SKI CLUB
For our first year we were lucky enough to have picked the longest
and best skiing season in over ten years. The Club was run by an
executive consisting of George Weider, president, Ken Ruddick, vice- president, Helen Weider, secretary, Nancy Andrews, treasurer. It Whs a great success, the members numbering nearly forty. Two or three carloads of members were driven out to the ski hills for Friday night skiing parties regularly. A draw was held for a camera set and returns were favourable. Ski Club 55-56 flashes in the school colours were purchased for each member.
In the racing section, Jeannie MacRae and Don McKay became Blue Mountain Ski Club champs of this year. For her excellent runs, in which her time bettered the times of the girls and boys included, Jeannie received a pair of skis. In second place were .Anna Weider, Frank Bryan and Don Secular, the two boys finishing in a tie. Helen Keith and Ron Millar captured third place. George Weider came home from Port Arthur with a bronze medal for third place in the Canadian Junior Slalom.
To finish off the year with a bang, a party was held at the Ski Barn at which the prizes for the Club Championships were awarded.
We hope to have a bigger and better club next year. Skiing is a wonderful sport and Collingwood is in an ideal location. Let's get
SKI HIU.
