 T".clE Aii!1lU.A1 CADLT INSPECTION
On May 22nd, 240 cadets of the C.D.C.I. Cadet Corps marched smartly into the Collingwood Arena to begin their Annual Cadet Inspectiono The audience, moved by respect for the flag, (and perhaps also for the Army of Tomorrow). stood as the Queen's Colour entered, carried at the head of the long khaki column.
a Canada was played by the C.D.C.I. Concert Band, as the Inspecting Officer, Major A. J. Symons, C. P. of the Grey and Simcoe Foresters, (28th hxmoured Regiment), qame on parade. Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Butters gave the General Salute and accompanied Major Symons on his inspection of the two squadrons. The Corps then marched past in Column of Route.
After the Cadets were marched off, a demonstration of range firing (using blank ammunition) was given by the crack shots of the Corps. The Cadet Band members, trim in black and yellow uniforms, then took the floor. Their intricate drills went off with very few hitches to the applause of the audience. Much credit must be given to the tenderfoot members wl~ made up a large part of the band, and who certainly proved ~hey had learned much in their first year of Cadet B9nd training.
Other highlights of the programme were: the Precision Squad; My Fair Lad.y, a Concert Band number; a display of gymnastics by some C.D.C.I. girls under the super- vision of Mr. A. Murch; and a Signals demonstration.
The Cqdets marched on parade. In his remarks, L~jor S;ymons complimented the Corps on its smart turnout. The Cadets marched out aft er the National ;~them to the tune of Colonel Bogey, a Concert Band speCialty.
The Corps, established in 1899, is one of the oldest corps in Canada. It has remained activ8 continuously since this date. In 1942, the Corps was affiliated
with the 2nd Battalion of the Grey and Simcoe Foresters, a reserve infantry battalion, which has since become the 28th J~moured Regiment. The Corps has been organized
on the basis of an l..rmoured Battalion and has changed its dress to the new pattern - black berets and black web_
The Corps has great fortune in being affiliated with this Regiment which has a fine record and an outstanding historye
