Again, another year in the life of our school has been recorded in the pages of this year - book ·-- a year in which we hope there has been a further step toward the maturity of C. D. C. 1. Events and happenings are set down so that, in later years, you may recall with fond memories the times you enjoyed during your Collegiate days.
This is a memorable period in the history of our planet and we are faced with tremendous problems that must be solved or else we shall
all face extinction on this Earth. And the solution to these problems can only be ree ched along the pathway of Education. Everywhere, Education is recognized as our first line of defense and yet there is a great. deal more talk than action as to wh::Jt we should do about it. That action must come from you, the yo~ng peo~le of our country, who are willing to denote your talents, your energies and your courage to the welfare of our nation.
C. D. C. 1. is a good school and yet we must always look for ways
of improvement -- there must be no stopping until we are second to none
1n the Province. Many of the students entered eagerly and willingly
into the numerous activities of the school cmd reaped the benefit::; thereby but others were content to sit by without taking part in anything.
This neg9tive attitude hurts no one but thoBe who have this outlook,
and yet, I wauld urge everyone to see if they C8nnot find one interest
or another, whether it is in the school or outside.
Unless, you he ve been involved in th e producti on of a year - book, such as this, it is difficult to realize the immense amount of work and thought that goes into its issue. '1'0 Mr. Connell and the staff of the Gleaner, I would extend my most sincere congratulations for a job
well - done. You have provided another link in the tradions of
C. D. C. I. and given subsequent Gleaner staffs a lofty goal at which to aim.
