Early in January practices began for positions on the l\Iidget Basketball tear.1. Although at first the tean looked bad, with the aid of the coach iVir. Paton, and
regular practices, it began to take shape.
The first game saw only ten players go out, yet they lost by only two points~

Too team was not up to its best performance whcn it played MicUand, being on the short end of a one-sided score, but it cane back with fire in its blood. ..at. Or111ia. The players rallied hard in the latter part of the gar.1e to come up with a tie.
In the fifth gar.~ the teen went down to a loss in Barrie North Collegiate. The next game at hone was played without one of the trusty forwards, and in the early minutes of the gane Joe Sheffer, the tall centre, sprained his thunb. In the dying minutes Tom Shields, trying to stop a basket, broke his virist ..
The teen finished the schedule by losing the remaining t wo games to end up with a record of one tie and seven very close decisions tnlcon by the opponents. In an exhibition gane with Thornbury, tho visiting tean couldn't hold back the strong Collingwood attack. Collingwood won this last garJe of the season, 40-3.

Elvin Bo~an and John Hastings were other nembers of the tear.1. The only title t.b.at the Juniors cane c10se to ?linning was in an exhibition gane with Meaford, which won by a point, 32-31. Going into the second half with a 28-22 lead, Meaford caught fire and scored six unans\7ored baskets before the score was tied to nake it 30-30. lieaford bot the pinning basket, and the Juniors, trying to tie the score, nett ed only a foul shot which Gnded the gar.1e .

The cheerleaders, "ith Rhuna Hurrell as curator, have had a busy and succoessful year. They participated in the annual Varicty Nite with the opening number, "lillchors Aweigh!', a drurJ najorette routine. They also appeared in the Collingwood Santa Claus parade
and in the LiOl:r;l Club Winter Carnival parade.
They led the cheering at all the home football, soccer, basketball and volleyball games, as well as encouraging their t eam on to victo~T in out of town games.
