GIRLS' COSSA VOLLEYBALL 1957 - 8

The girls worked very hard am played some good games. The S~niors came :pome in third place with four points an,d the Juniors in fourth place with two points.
In a home and home series with Mc8ford, this time being more successful,
the Seniors won four games a nd lost tW(;';--the Juniors won five games and lost one.
The teams were well supported and looked after by their coach, Mrs. Black;
their manager, P~t Donald; their referee, Diane Butters; their linesman, Jean SoulsbYi ~heir timer, Peggy Hayes; and their scorer, Marina Rich.

GIRLS' COSSA BASKETBaLL
The 1957-58 season of COSSA basketball was a highly successful one, especially for the Juniors. After playing seven of the eight scheduled games, the Juniors were tied with Barrie North for first place. The last game was played with Orillia. B.tcause O rillia defeated Collingwood 35 , to 31, CQllingwood placed second. The , Seniors won only three games but due to the ability of the guards, the opponents
were not able to rack up too high a score in any game.
Captain and high scorer of the Junior team was C-:rol Davis who avera ged
twenty points per game. Diane Bu::.ters, another out stand iug forward, usually was able ~o score when Carol didn't. The other two forwards, Nancy Gcrrnaine and Joy Woolner, noted for their jumping ability, worked hard and assisted in many plays. T1€ guards, Jackie Blanchard, Pat Mason, Hope Lovelock, Jeannie Soulsby, Faith Rutherford,
~nd LeisHayes, are to be commendEd on the fine job they did in stopping the opponents from scoring.
Beverley Bonnell, high scorer far the S~nior team, gaVE her usual outstanding performance in every game. Other forwards to see action were Ann Louise Ditson, G.:en Duley, Lorraine F.::.wcett, and Eva Nisula. Thc guards, Hope'Vanderschie, l(.::therine Nhlrray, SJ1iela Soulsby, M-~rina RICh, and Donna Elliot, always put forth their best effort. Hope Vtlnderschie was their captain.
