This year the C.D.C.I. had two boy's volleyball teams:,: junior and senior. After a short period of.-pre.€tice,:.theY-'participated in a round robin t01,J.rnment at Orillia against~ Orillia,lVI;L.a.l?:l1:d, ann Richmond Hill. The Junior team of C.D.C.~. beat the Senior
team of thts s'chool for: t.b:e',:only win by both teams but the hoys :all enjoyed the competit~ona.nd $~la.Qwship" with the other schools.
Later: in:the ~eason," the Girl's Senior, Girl's Junior, the Boy's Junior, the Boy's Senior .and "the ,IT'eaching:'Staf'f played a knock-out serious in which the STAFF came out v~ctorious.
TRACK AND FIELD
., Again, .th~ boys and girls of the C. D. C. 1. attended the Tudhope-Thompson Tr,ack
and Field ~~et" at Barrie. Althou~h the boys won four events, they placed fouith of the five teams. ,All the boys who went to the meet enjoyed themselves and showed .' true sp.ortl;lmanp:hip and , interest i n hard competition as shown in the r esults of some of the events. Interest !shoul~ be high for the coming season when the meet will be held at Collingwood.
Due to sic!£ness in 9wen Sound, their meet was not held this year. There was 'talk of a spring ,meet .but nothing has come up as yet .
A number of boys took part in the Georgian Bay l\~eet in early May and did very well. A.Junior team represented the school in the Q,uaker Relays a week later and-showed lot's
of courage.an,d drivo in the event. The prospects for the coming seasons in trac~ aind f:j.eld :look.muc.q bright:er with the increased interest shovm.
CURLING

The' C,;D.C.I. Curling Team wont to Orillia to compete in the Georgian Bay Curling Bonspiel held in January. Midland was originally supposed to hold the spiel but at
tp.e last minute had to give it to Orillia. The boys won one and lost tvJO games, but came c+ose in one game.
At Midland, later in the month, two teams did honors for the school; one team won two games and the other, onei but ('.;1..1_gur..::o8,wore cl0.8e.
Thornbury played host to throe schools, Collingwood included. Again tho boy.s came closo but did not.win a prize. Another year may see groat improvements in our cttrl~rs and, more of thom. ·· It is hopod that an annual spiel may bo arranged ,f Qr CollingWood
in ,the -near futuro.

The C.D.C.1. had its first taste of amatour inter-school wrestling during tho past s,chool $~ason of 1957-58 .
Last January,' a wrestling t eam consisting of Gloven members was ore;anized and trained under the supervision cif I1ir. Paton. Tho team fought threo matches in its first season. At the first meet, held in Orillia, tho team was defeated. Thr,ee weeks
later, the Orillia andC.D.C.1. toams ,fought to a draw in CollingtlJ'ood•. Thun Kitchoner and the C. D. C.1. t eams mot for the final match, with Kitchenor emer ging victorious by u"mere margin.
.. Although the Wrestling Toam has not yot won greut victories for tho school,
crodit must bo given tho team for thG offort and enthusiasm already displuyod during tho first season. Next year, of courso, tho toam, havinb profited by experience, will bo better.
