I welcome this opportunity to participate, even in a small way, in a team effort to produce the Gleaner. I am happy to extend greetings to the Editor and all readers of this very interesting
yearbook from the Board of Education of the C. D. C. I.
A few years from now, when you pick up this yearbook and think back on your days spent in
this beautiful school, I hope you will have the satisfaction of feeling you have taken at least as much interest in equipping yourselves for your life work as you have in sports and activities. The efforts of your teachers and Board will be well rewarded by your sure climb on the ladder of success.
In attending a collegiate such as this, a student, I believe, should consider his tastes and natural qualifications for a vocation. As guidance, he should carefully consider advice from his Principal and teachers.
I hope that, before long, your Board will initiate a full-time guidance program in the school. A safe-driving course, designed to make all students conscious of the responsibilities of driving a car and tb cut down the death toll on the highways, it also under consideration.
Your Board members are intensely aware of the crowded conditions existing in our school and ask that the teaching staff and students bear with us until more spacious accommodation can be made available.
I wish to express my personal appreciation for the co-operation I have received from the Prin- cipal, teaching and administrative staffs during my years as a member of the Board, On behalf of the Board, I extend best wishes for all earned success to all graduates and undergraduates of 1959.
