Metal Shop
The Industrial Arts Programme offers one of the greatest opportunities in modern schools for students to achieve expression through projects and at the same time get an elementary training in several trades.
The C. D .C .I. metal shop introduces Grade IX to sheet metal work, machine shop practice- bench and machine, and oxy-acetylene welding. Upholstery, incidental to projects, is begun at this level. Grade X is an extension of Grade IX with the addition of arc-welding. Grade XI and Grade XII are extensions of the previous grades.
Throughout the course from Grade IX to Grade XII each subject or activity is expanded to cover more facets of the v-.ork. Interested pupils through option projects have an unlimited opportunity to express design and ingenuity. Enough scope is allowed so that the student wishing to can take home a project of lasting beauty or a project of practical value or both.
The three "R 1s" are visual! y and actual! y expressed in Industrial Arts. Practical application of EngIish and
Mathematics is clearly brought out. Through a knowledge of language the students may study how to go about a
job or read of other achievements. Through a knowledge of mathematics, measurement and layout achieve a "New

Look." Few subjects offer the overall opportunities of broadening one s education in so satisfying a manner.
