The GleeĀ· Club
The School Choir was organized this year in September under the direction of Miss Stephenson. It was voted that the choir should be called the C .D.C.I. Glee Club.
On Remembrance Day, we sang 0 God Our Help in Ages Past in a combined number with the band. We also sang at the Christmas Assembly.
Our greatest problem wos trying to entice the males of the school to Room 221 for rehearsals. Once, when one boy turned up, we sang with great enthusiasm and in perfect pitch!
With the co-operation of all concerned, there is no reason why we cannot make our choir the best.

The Senior Public Speaking Contest
On Thursday, March 4, 1960, the Senior Public Speaking Contest took place in the Auditorium. This year1 thirteen students representing grades eleven and twelve participated in the contest. All those participating provided excellent competition.
The speeches covered various subjects such as the Olympic Games, Abraham Lincoln, Racial Discrimination, and The Story of Ontario Hydro. After some discuss ion among the honourable judges, Andy Markle of 11A (who immediately got the measles after speaking) won first place. Walter Borthwick of 11A was second and Lois White of 12B finished third. Leone Raymer of 12A was fourth.
For the first time in the contest's three year history, the school employed an efficient, effective method of conducting it. The wide interest and stiff competition illustrate that the Collegiate has reached a milestone in public speaking. A bright future lies ahead for public speaking in this school.
