"Adversity toughens the fibre of man's soul." The Gleaner staff faced the year with a substantial financial deficit to overcome. With a brilliant ingenuity and a great cunning that would turn a "confidence" man green with envy, they overcame this deficit to put the Gleaner on a sound financial basis. Again, we must congratulate the Gleaner staff and faculty advisers, on the production of this very fine year-book.
This year should see the opening of the new Stayner Collegiate with what we hope will be a new era of healthy competition and rivalry between our two schools. With the departure of the students and staff members for the new school go our very best wishes for a fine educational institution.
"Nothing in education is so astonishing as the amount of ignorance it accumulates in the form of inert facts." Let it never be forgotten that the real end of education is the development of a pupil's mental faculties to the utmost of his ability.
