HONOUR .GRADUATES
Commencement 1962
The annual commencement, representing a long-awaited momentoftriumph for C. C. I. graduates, was held on Friday, September 7, 1962 in the school auditorium under the direction of the Principal, Mr. Mcintyre, as chairman.
Rev. W. L. Young gave the invocation and Mr. Bruce Wells, Assistant to the Dean of Men, University of Western Ontario, delivered the Baccalaureate address. Throughout the evening, deserving students re- ceived awards, shields, bursaries and diplomas. An instrumental group played two selections and Sandra Piotrow sang a solo. The evening was concluded by the presentation of the Grade XIII diplomas and the Valedictory address given by Lindsay Fawcett.
The graduating class of 161 - '62 is the largest in the history of the school. Twenty-nine students received Secondary School Honour Graduation Diplomas and a large number received Secondary School Graduation Diplomas both in the General and Commercial courses. Gillian Worrad brought honour to herself and the school by winning an Ontario Scholarship which requires an 80% on eight papers.
Many of the graduates with their parents and friends remained for a social hour in the cafeteria and dancing in the auditorium.
Gillian Worrad, an outstanding student, re- ceived numerous awards in addition to an Ontario Scholarship.
