The first business of the 1963-64 Stu- dent's Council was the appointing of Mrs. Blacklock to a two-year term as General Advisor, and Mrs. Freudeman to a one-year term as Financial Advisor. On the recom- mendation of the Commercial Department, Rosale.e Kennedy was appointed Secretary, and Muriel Atchison, Treasurer.
Because of increases student enrolment and favourable bank balance left by last year's Council, we were able, this year, to lower the price of student activity cards by fifty cents. The card entitled the owner to free admission to school sports events, "Coke" dances, and reduced rates at the local theatre, arena, and student functions. Approx- imately eight-seven per cent of the student body purchased the cards.
A new school sweater of black with pale gold trim was chosen and sold this year. One hundred and nine orders were received. As well, school crests were bought by over one hundred students. The sweaters, <;rests, and school Christmas cards were sold at very slight profit, the object being merely to make these articles available to the student body. Its response indicates a deeper feeling of association between student and school.
Public speaking trophies were provided for the two school champions, and bars for all contestants.
The Executive would like to thank Mrs. Freudeman and Mrs. Blacklock for their guidance, the office secretaries, Miss Cooke and Miss Wylie for their co-operation, and the class representatives for a job well done.
