Band
This year the band is under the leadership of Mr. G. Arnason who has come from Oakville Trafalgar High School.
The band has played at all the assemblies, the most notable of which was the Christmas As- sembly. Carols were played and the students were encouraged to sing along by Mr. Jackson. After a few selections of Christmas music, the band members put on a brief amusing skit which was enjoyed by everyone. Immediately afterwards the band went to the Senior Public School where a concert of Christmas carols was given for the students. A demonstration of tuning up was also given which introduced the audience to the var- ious instruments in the band. The purpose of the concert was to interest the public school students
in instrumental music in the hope that they will take the subject in high school. The band also played for the inauguration of the Board in Jan- uary.
At the momentthe band is attempting to sup- ply the new Grade nine members with uniforms by purchasing the jackets belonging to former band members. All are now anticipating the day when the band will once again appear in full uniform. Since the band has become a member of the Student Council, another current project is the writing of a new constitution by the present ex- ecutive.
It has been a good year for the band and we hope that it will continue to flourish in the years to come and will be a credit to the school.
