On behalf of the nine hundred students of C. C.I. , it is my pleasure to extend congratulations t o b o t h t h e j u n i o r a n d s e n i o r w i n n e r s of t h e a n n u a l public speaking contest. I know thaL competition was quite keen in both divisions and our winners
were certainly worthy of the-ir victory.
The junior semi-finals were held on March 1st. and from these semi-finalist speakers, were
chosen our finalists. These were Freda Weir, Henry Neuendorf , and Zygmunt Szewcyzk.
The senior semi-finalswere held the follow- ing day and from these emerged our senior final- ists. These were Don Carscadden, Sue Harvey,
and Lynne Plater. However, on Friday the day of the finals, Lynne Plater was unable to make s c h o o l , a n d J i m B i g n e l l , t h e r e f o r e , t o o k h e r p l a c e in the contest.
At the end of the judging, Zygmunt Szewcyzk was chosen as junior winner and Jim Bignell was chosen as senior winner.
On Monday, March 7th, the junior and senior finalists went to speak at the Lion's Club, where they were treated to dinner and an evening of fun and suspense. The winner for the girls was Freda
