 BAND
This year has been the biggest yet for the C.C.I. Band. Our trip to Expo '67 was the highlight of our many centenary activities which inclu- ded over twenty parades.
We welcomed the Collingwood Centennial Runners home from Otta- wa. Our music wasn't so hot- but then our instruments had frozen solid. We escorted the Centennial Caravans through Collingwood in May and marched in Canada's birthday parade on July 1. In fact, we ushered in the Centennial so often last year that I've lost count. Most of our mem- bers felt a little more akin to their fellow Canadians because of this.
U ltim a te ly , we reached the climax, for us, of 1967. On August 29 after two weeks of intensive practice and an entire summer of slaving to ''scrape up'' enough money, we set out on seven wonderfully hectic days of early breakfasts, crammed schedules and little sleep. Montreal and Expo received us well. No one in that company that went to Expo will ever forget that memorable week, because each one felt that he had done something to help his country, Canada.
It was a great year and everyone was sad to see it go. What does "Centennial-plus-One" hold in store for Collingwood Collegiate's Band? We are going to have another chance to give Canada a boost. In the sum- mer of '68, we will travel to Hemisfair '68, San Antonio, Texas' World Fair!
Wish us luck!
