The Collingwood Collegiate Band has been very busy so far this year participating in many parades and concerts. It has travelled to Owen Sound, Newmarket, Aurora, Elmvale, Creemore and Alliston as well as marching in all Collingwood parades. Last October, for the third year in a row, the band played at the International Plowing Match and has been asked to participate at the 1970 I. P. M. This February a pit orchestra consisting of approximately half the band took part in the production of the musical play "Bye Bye Birdie". The future holds much in store for the band.
Probably one of the biggest and greatest opportunities that will face the band members is the trip to Osaka, Japan for the 1970 World's Fair. The band is expected to spend over two weeks in Japan. To all of us, this will be a very new and unique experience and I hope that we will be able to share this with the other students of C. C. I.
On behalf of the band I would like to extend our thanks to Mr. Amason for the time and effort that he has so generously put into the band.
John Kirby
