BAND HISTORY
The CCI Band first originated in 1952, under the direc- tion of F. Boyd Wood. During this time, it consisted of 35 members and participated in several competitions, each time returning home with second prize. Then, with the arrival of a new bandmaster, Mr. Hollier, in 1956, a string section was add- ed, and the band became an orchestra. He also designated cer- tain sections for the formation of a marching band, which first came into life in October 1957 at a football game. The band, under Mr. Hollier, also continually won second prizes, but changed their luck, when, at a music festival, they scored 90 out of a possible 100 points to capture a first prize.
With the arrival of Mr. J. Knights in 1959, the band drop- ped out of competitions, and participated mainly in community activities. It was not until1965, with the arrival of Mr. A.G. Arnason, that the band began extensive touring. These tours have included trips to Expo '67, Hemisfair in 1968, Osaka, Japan in 1970, the Calgary Stampede in 1972 and the Niagara Blos- som Time Festival in 1973.
At present, our 75 piece band has received invitations from the Stampede, the Spokane World's Exposition and Florida.
We hope that the band's future will be as successful as its past.
