Since the 1976 Gleaner went to press, the Band has played in many public perfor- mances. In its Hrst appearance at the Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival in many years, last February, the Band was awarded prizes in three classes, two firsts and a second. As this Gleaner goes to press, the Band will enter the 1977 Festival in three classes and in several chamber ensembles.
Another innovation last year involved the individual effort of the students who tried performance examinations with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Thirty-seven were successful. Another fifteen are preparing for this January's session, and several others will try in June.
In December, the Band hosted its "Dreams of Christmas Past" party, with the dance music supplied by the Collegians Stage Band. It was highly successful. The members of the Band eagerly look forward to doing it again next year.
A number of events are planned for the remainder of the year.
