IN MEMORY OF: Andrew Richardson
Alfred Lindhorst
Among the newcomers to CCI last September, Andrew Richard- son embarked on his high school studies. In less than a month, this outgoing young man won the respect of fellow students and teachers in the classroom and on the football field . His dedication to the task at hand saw him gain a starting position on our Junior Football offensive line, and work with eleven others to earn us a 2- 1 win/loss record early in the season. After returning from a Toronto-Western game at Varsity Stadium, Andrew seemed sure that education and football made school the place to be. Shortly afterwards, however, Andrew died suddenly, and left a void in all whose lives he had touched. The passing of this enthusiastic stu- dent impresses upon us all that life is sacred, yet fleeting. Yet, certainly Andrew's cheerful outlook and application give us some- thing for which to strive.
The staff and students of CCI were saddened this year, to learn of the passing of Mr. Alfred Lindhorst. Mr. Lindhorst taught science and geography at CCI for eleven years, until his retirement in June of 1978. During his years here, he established a reputation as a hard-working teacher with a strong concern for values.
Alfred Lindhorst was a man of many interests. He was a farmer, a nutritionist, a naturalist, an intense student of the Bible, and a devoted family-man. His colleagues and students probably best remember his willingness to speak out for the things in which he believed. In a very interesting retirement speech to the staff, he referred to the importance of maintaining one's values in a rapidly changing society. Certainly, Alfred Lindhorst showed that tradi- tional values could be upheld, and taught a valuable lesson by his own example.
