On Thursday and Friday, February 21st and 22nd the Girls' and Boys' Alpine Ski Teams took part in the All Ontario Alpine Skiing Championships held at Georgian Peaks. After the first day's competition the Boys' team was well out in front with 28 points. Individual results were as follows, Dave Newton 1st, Brett Titus 3rd, Cam Fryer 24th and Gord Paul was 43rd. The girls' team ran into a little trouble as two of the girls were disqualified for missing gates, however, Alison McGillivary came 4th and Krista Haiduk placed 14th. The next day was raining and freezing ice covered the course. However the boys' team came through once again with Dave Newton placing 3rd, Cam Fryer 18th and Gord Paul 47th, Brett Titus was disqualified for missing a gate. With this excellent showing the boys won 1st place by a substantial margin. The girls improved considerably also on Friday on a long icy covered course. Alison came in 4th again, Krista Haiduk came in 8th and Maria Niro and Laura Tkatfh both fell but completed the course to come in 58 and 59 respectively. This placing combined with the boys' team gave us another gold medal. In total the boys' team won two gold medals the most one team can receive and the girls received the combined gold medal as well.
