What the Poppy Indicates to Me by: Craig Szelestowski
When.I see someone wearing that small red flower I think of man's destructive power.
Wearing a poppy says you really care
About our patriots' courage rare,
Through a ceaseless hail of fire and lead Our brave men fought to avenge the dead. Our unsung heroes battled for peace
And prayed to God that hate would'cease. Ordinary people from all o~er this 1a11d Were sent aw~ to take their stand
In some places to them unknown,
Into battles their all was thrown ;
Through crossroads, ridses, fields and mud Every yard was bo t with blood
And every time a sol i r feU
Another took his place to quell
A raging foe who never tired
Until his last round was fired.
Man;r. men were killed by him,
And our memories do get dim.
Rerpember the innocent who are deaa •
lfo for our freedom their blood was shed.
And we will cheriSii our Heroes more than the most precious gem,
And by wearing a poppy,
Always will werem,~mber them.
