W H A T IS IT?
Co-operative Education i s a common effort
between the school and the community which provides learning experiences outside the classroom. Students are placed at work stations which com- plement specific inschool learning experiences so that teaching and practical experience are combined in an educationally beneficial way.

vocational courses who plan to enter em- ployment upon leaving school;
students o f independent study programs i n specific subject areas;
high achieving students who want the enrichment of practical experience;
students who want to clarify their career ob- jectives;
students in early apprenticeship programs in the secondary schools;

students who want to re-enter a Secondary School program.

develop skills to work effectively with others; develop an awareness of business and industrial needs and demands;
develop broad awareness o f occupations t o assist with the difficult task of career decision making;
facilitate the transition from school to work; provide an alternate method of earning school credits.
FOR EMPLOYERS:
share directly in the educational process by becoming a partner i n instructing young workers in skills required for employment; contribute to the process of keeping school courses relevant to changes in business and industry;
develop sources of new workers;
evaluate potential employees;
render an important public service
f o r credit is designed so that the inschool course forms approximately one-third o f t h i s program. The remaining two-thirds of the program is in an approved out-of-school experience. Credits towards a Secondary School Graduation Diploma will be granted by the school upon successful completion of
the program.
