Portrait of Grade 9
On the first day of Grade 9, it was a heart pounding experience for a couple of Grade 8's from a fifteen room school of Wasaga Beach.
We all know the feeling of sitting up until 11:30 choosing what to wear on the first day of school, and finally the decision of a skirt and high-heeled shoes (bad mistake)! You open the door of your new school and begin to walk down the hall, after a very lumpy bus ride, only to be stared at as the sound of your heels click against the tile floors and echo through the halls. All of a sudden you find yourself running to your home room on your toes which makes you sound like you're doing the soft-shoe. Then there's walking down the mass of people leaning against the wall, "Pardon me, excuse me, pardon me!", just to be snickered at by the grade 12's and 13's (How degrading)! Then there's the fear of first dance, walking into the gym feeling perfectly normal, coming out with a massive headache, ears buzzing, and the tragedy of having no love life! To describe it in one word, you feel miserable. In closing, each time you go to a dance you learn to take Tylenol, and who knows your love life may pick up! All in all, Grade 9 isn't that bad!
