The wrestling season started out with a big turnout this year and approximately 32 boys maintained an active involvement in wrestling. This will go down as the year of the "clean sweep" as C.C.I. took all four Georgian Bay Titles.
The team placed 11 students on the OFSSA team which competed in St. Catherines in Ontario, at Brock University. For the sixth year we maintained our standing in the top 10 of Ontario's High School . The team won many individual honors as they travelled to tournaments in Oshawa, Sudbury , T oronto , London , and MJSSJssauga. We also hosted our annual C.C.I. invitational in January of this year.
Rick Potts and Derek Prezio travelled to
Sydney, Nova Scotia to compete in the Canadian Championships for their age group , while C.C.I. hosted the Bantam and Cadet Wrestling Championship at the Town Arena . Our program grew this year , with the availability of new mats in our region, thanks to the hosting of these CanadianChampionships.
GBSSA Champions are:
- Bob Hewitt, Pat Bowhey, Derek Prezio, Dean Prezio, Rick Potts, and Rodger King. Silver Medalists at GBSSA were: Dee Glen , Brian Gosling, Craig Hanisch, Gord McArthur, and Jay Graihger
Bronze Medalists were: Doug Sybersma, Dean Young, and Chris Sproule.
