MR. GORD TRANTER RETIRES
Mr. Gord Tranter leaves C.C.I. after over 23 years of service as a teacher and Technical Director.
Mr. Tranter is a native of Scarborough. He graduated from University in Waterloo with a B.A. and later received an M.A. from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. He first apprenticed as an electrician during the war before teaching at the then Provincial Institute of Trades.
When Mr. Tranter arrived at C.C.I. in 1963, there were only two shops. He was instrumental in the establishment of the many courses introduced in the new
Technical Wing. His duties included other subject areas such as Home Economics, Art and Music. He established a bursary program to recognize achievement in various shops and instilled a desire for high standards. He feels strongly that in our Technical age all students should be exposed to shop classes.
Mr. Tranter ends a varied and rich career as a teacher and will long be remembered by his students and colleagues as a true gentleman .
Our thanks and best wishes to you and your family Mr. Tranter.
