The ups and downs of a fresh new team
T'was the night before the big game And out on the field,
All of the soccer team was practicing
So there opponents fate would be sealed.
Vandeweerdbof was coaching. He wanted to even the score. The players were excited
They shouted for "Moore"!
" We can win this title. We'll bring home the GB. You have us superb coaches, It's so easy, you see!"
Game time soon arrived, There rose such a clatter,
The crowd stood in the stands To see what was the matter.
When out on the field
Ran the Gold and the Black. With Justin as Captain, C.C.I. did not lack!
Graydon and Jasper had secret plays Locked in their heads,
With both Matt and Jeremy
Bradford had plenty to dread!
On Phil, on George, On Tim, on Garreth, On Darryl, on Will, On Joe, on Brent, On Steve and on Bill!
From the centre of the field, To the top of the net
With Ken Howard in goal No points would they get!
C.C.I. was ahead
When Mr. V yelled a command. The next play was changed - Suddenly nobody ran!
The fans were perplexed,
They couldn't believe this sight. The team wasn't trying Something just wasn't right!
The sideline was stunned, The crowd was so hushed. "Why are they not playing? Why hasn't anyone rushed?"
The sideline shook their heads, Mr. Moore started to cry
As Banting kept gaining points, He could just sit and sigh!
The game was soon over, C.C.I. crawled to their coaches They looked like whipped dogs When their master approaches!
Mr. Moore cried, "What happened?" As he tried to recover.
Why the team had blown the game, He had to discover.
Darryl approached slowly, He was shaking in his cleats. " We tried our hardest, Sir. We didn't mean to get beat!"
"Will and Justin played their best.
We all tried so much,
But it's hard to follow plays
When Mr. V. yells them in DUTCH!!!"
TOP PLAYERS
C.C.I. 's top midget soccer players for 1987 were Garreth Coorigan and Team Captain, Justin Cragg. Both boys played very strong games throughout the season exhibiting fine sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Whether you are bouncing the ball off of your knee or head, or preparing to kick it down the field, like Garreth Corrigan, the excite- ment is always there.
