Many C.C.I. students provided an indispensible service in February by donating blood to the local Red Cross. Here Ted Knude, on behalf of the school, receives a plaque from Mrs. Smith of the Red Cross.
OMMUNITY
This year the Ministry of Education conducted a research report and concluded that it would be best for students if they did not work after school. However, with all of the pressures for fashion, entertainment, school activities, sports and future education, a great many students at C.C.I. find it necessary to hold either a part-time job during the school year or to work during the summer holidays. Their places of employment are as varied as the duties that they perform.
I f you have a craving for a terrific banana split, then go to the 'Dairy Queen' and you might find Gary Weatherall behind the counter. Having a 'Big Mac' attack? Then don't be surprised if Tracy Atkinson comes to your rescue at 'McDonalds', her place of employment
for the past year. With future hopes of
becoming a teacher, her savings are
banked for university and perhaps a car.
Dave Cousins lives on a farm and sup-
plements his income by performing a
variety of chores on his dad's farm - all
for the purpose of buying a new truck
someday. Although Ross Cooke HAS
HELD PREVIOUS JOBS AT 'Pizza
Delight' and 'The Scenic Caves', he is
presently employed at ' Darsco
Distributors'. He usually saves his
money for his leisure time or to spend on
his girlfriend. Jim Johnson can often be
found pumping gas at 'Monaco Shell' in Wasaga Beach. Although he is presently putting money aside for Driver's Ed, he knows that his next goal will be saving towards flight lessons as he is looking at a career as a pilot.
Wasaga Beach is also the location for Keri Wellhauser's part-time job at 'Videoflicks'. Putting in about 19 hours every week as a clerk will help Keri obtain her goal of buying a car and then help her purchase that unavoidable, expensive item known as 'CAR INSURANCE'. Derek Groves may have his eyes set on a future career as an electrician, but he presently spends anywhere from 20 to 25 hours weekly at the 'Blue Mountain IGA'. After working there for almost a year and a half, he almost has enough saved to buy a snowmobile. Shannon venus uses her job at 'The Little Red Hen' to help her save towards taking an exotic trip somewhere. Now all she has to decide is where she would like to travel!
