Mrs. Benow: "My first name was after a good friend of my mother and, believe it or not, my middle name was my great aunt's actual first name!"
Mr. Redmond: "I have twelve brothers and sisters and they were each named after someone in the family. I guess that, by the time my parents got to me, they had run out of names and just picked anything!"
Mr. Kilgour: "I am the fifth in a long line of 'James Douglas'!"
Mr. Aikens: "My first name was a family surname on my great-grandmother's side and 'Clayton' was after my father's days out west. It was a popular name there!"
Mr. Crago: "I was named after my dad's cousin who died when he was about 30 years old!"
Mr.Mr. Hirst: "Originally, I was called 'King Arthur', but there were two of u with the same name!"
Mr. Truscott: "My parents had to gick a good Scottish name!"
Mrs. Berni: "I was almost cal d 'Jen- nifer' but at the last minute it was chang- ed to 'Janet'. 'Louise' must be after my father and grandfather, 'Louis'."
Mr. J. Moore: "I was amed after a little English woodworkE!j ho lived in 1750!" Mr. Hunwicks: " was named after a saint . . . don't I ugh,' this is true!"
Mr. Richmir :·"My father's last name was Richrnire and he decided to keep it!"
Mr. Hamlin: "My parents just liked my first arne and my second one came fr my great-grandmother, as I was
born on her birthday!"
We were curious as to why some teachers were only given one name ..
Mr. Fischer: "With a name like 'Hart- wig', who needs a second one! This is a good German name and I guess my parents felt it was enough."
Mr. Beckett: "I don't know why I wasn't given a middle name. It always greatly bothered my mother and so, in her memory, I legally took the name 'Rhodes', after her maiden name."
Somewhere among those thousands that could have been chosen, each of us received what was thought to be the perfect name. Think about how many times you must write YftJ · r name or see your name in print m any given week. Now is a good time to'ask your parents, "HOW DID I GET MY NAME?" Then ask your parents how they got their names. This could o the beginning of a fascinating look i to your roots!
