BOYS' VOLLBYBALL TBAMS The Midgets Takes Us to the Top!!
This year, the Midget Team was heading into the sea- son on the tail of lost year's disappointing playoff up- set which saw the first place Owls lose in the first round. Carrying a complement of sixteen players, the team strategy was to play everyone in o rder to develop skills for playoff.
At the half way point of the season, the team had beaten everyone in their league and were at five and 0. Now the team had the challenge of the second half to play everyone, develop skills, and maintain the per- fect record . With only one match being extended to five games, the Midget Owls swept the rest of their sea- son to complete the perfect season and once again end in first place.
At the Simcoe County playoffs. C.C.I. was the team to beat.C.C.I. downed their first two opponents of the day and then in a major upset, lost the third match of day to Banting. The fourth game saw C.C.I. baffling for its existence as the losing team would be elimi- nated. After losing the first game. exhausted C.C.I. play- ers dug down and earned a berth in GB's.
GB play saw C.C.I. control their first game of the day but then lose to lnnlsdale. Then the Owls defeated their next two opponents to earn a rematch with lnnisdale for the GBSSA Championship!!
Good ol' number 2, Gavin Brown has been playing volleyball for 5 years now. He wants to continue the sport next year. The best thing about the year for Ga- vin was "winning the GB championships." The worst was "losing to Banting". You'll sweep 'em next year Gavin.

Five wins and five losses; a .500 average. Not badl Although the Junior Team missed the playoffs. all had a great year. It was great because our guys were great, with great attitudes and great athletic ability. We won and we lost, but we came close. Thank-you gang for a wonderful season representing the C.C.I. Owls so well. Lucky number 7 Jeremy Cunningham of the team has been playing for 4 years now. Jeremy is going to ploy next year hopefully on the Senior Team even though he has one more year to go on the Ju- nior Team . Jeremy smiles when he says the best thing about the year was "the fun we hod with Coach Jones." He is still smiling when he says the worst thing about the year was not being able to put all the skills the team had together. "The team had the skills, we just couldn't keep them together throughout the sea- son."

The Senior Team was a bit of an enigma this year. The talent was there, but we never seemed to be able to put it together for an entire match. One game, the boys would be unbeatable and the next looked like they were not on the same planet. For the most part, they enjoyed the season, but frustration took its toll to· wards the end. Our record of one and seven did not justify the abilities of our team.
Number 4 of the team Mike Hamilton has been play- ing for 3 years and intends on joining our Fighting Owls again next year. Mike says "the best thing for me this year was the thrill of competition . I just wish we had won more games. That was the worst thing of the year."
Well regardless of the number of wins or losses, our team did their best and that's all we can ask. Get 'em next year guysl
