HAVE I GOT AN EXCUSE FOR YOUIII
There comes a time in your life when you must face reality and admit - "I didn't get my homework done!" For some reason, you found that you could not open up that chemistry text nor continue on to that next math question. Perhaps your part-time job interfered maybe you were stressed out from re-writing that English essay for the third time . . . you call- ed your best friend to talk on the phone for just one minute and the conversation lasted two and a half hours ... or maybe you just took an hour or two to sit back and try to figure out 'Who really killed Laura Palmer?' Whatever the reason, being the mature C.C.I. student that you are, you have chosen notto complete your
homework. Right? Right! However, you now must think of an excuse when the teacher ques- tions you the next day. You know that the per- son at the front will not accept the fact that you tried to solve the demise of Laura as a suitable excuse . What to say?
Don't for a moment consider that the dilem- ma of providing an excuse for an incomplete assignment is a trend of the '90's. Take a mo- ment and read the following - Miss Clark: " Bill Sled, you must bring that excuse for being ab- sent. Why didn't you bring it this morning?" Bill: "My mother never gets up 'till 10 o'clock; my father ran slivers in all 5 fingers; I couldn't write it myself since the cat spilt the ink; I was using the pen for a tooth pick and broke the nib; My brother took the pencil to write to his girlfriend; and I had to use up all of the paper writing these impositions you gave me, which I lost coming to school." Does this sound familiar? This excerpt was taken from the
1931-32 Gleaner. The bad news is that you still don't have an excuse. The Good news is that C.C.I. students have never really changed!!!
