C.C.I continued its winning tradition on the slopes of Devil's Glen by capturing the girls OFSAA goldmedals. Led by Dallas Philips 4th place in the Giant Slalom and 6th place in the slalom the girls had two days of racing. She was closely followed by Becky Martin (7th & 11th) and Te- resa Plater (22nd & 34th) who despite a severly injured hand finished the slalom to give the girls 84 points, far ahead of the second team who had 122 points. The other team members, were Shelly Hurst, Melissa Abbotts and Angie Bryans (who couldn't complete due to a broken ankle). The boys had some exceptional finishes too, led by Billy Kritsch's 1st in the slalom and 2nd in the Giant slalom. Ryan Reid also had a successful meet, placing 17th in the slalom and in the top 10 in Giant slalom. Other team members were Ross Birchall , Ryan Kern , Dan Haycke, and Chris Gibson. Despite not finishing with 3 boys, both teams were in contention for the Combined Title. Unfortunately our top two boys in the Giant Slalom were disqualified due to a technicality and we didn't do as well as we should have.
This year's cross country ski team made history as they participated in the first ever high school race on man-made snow. The event was the Glenforest World Cup Invitational held at Hardwood Hills and over 700 racers competed.
The racing continued with the O.D.C.V.I. Invitational and the Colling- wood Relays. The Junior Boys team of Jason Lang, Brendan Wypich and Michael Dunning placed third in the relays and their chances for OFSAA looked good. However Innisdale and ODCVI teams earned the GBSSA banner to OFSAA and the boys along with Stuart Clugston and Michael Berry have set their sights for next year. Karen Skeat! was the Junior Girls team . She skied to a 4th place finish at GBSSA and qualified for OFSAA where she placed 25th in a field of 157 racers. Her best ever OFSAA re- sult. Gen Currie was the Senior Girls team. The senior boys were strong in numbers consisting of Rick Biggs, Gord Cook, Marc Allard, Kevin Hod- gins, Shawn Chartrand, Phil Berry, Malcolm Harkness, but didn't manage to get to OFSAA. As an added bonus Marc Allard, Phil Berry, Michael Dunning, Jason Lang, Karen Skeat! and Brendan Wypich all enjoyed an exchange with Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine.
