This year's Track and Field Team saw a resurgence in numbers led by the Senior Team. This team, in fact, had more athletes qualify for G.B.S.S.A. than we had athletes in total the previous year. The team was sixth overall at the Simcoe County Zone meet at which the Sen- ior Boys were second. From there twenty-four runners, throwers and jumpers qualified for G.B.S.S.A. where a third place Senior Boy's team led C.C.I to a twelfth place overall finish . Eleven athletes emerged from this action to go on to
O.F.S.A.A. competition with Shawn Chartrand excelling to place himself in the top twenty-four in Ontario in both the 1500m and 3000m events. Other notable achievements were school records by Sherry Death (Sr. Girl's Triple Jump). Marilese Keller (Sr. Girl's Shot Put), and Jeff Trus- cott (Sr. Boy's Triple Jump). Coaches: D. Shepherd, D. Knox, J. Campbell, K. Piorczynski, A. Coukell. ยท

This year's Cross-Country Running Team had a successful season during what is a rebuild- ing process for the squad. Start- ing at the Midget level the team is creating a solid base for the future. Both the Midget Girls and Midget Boys teams finished fifth in Simcoe County League competition spread over a five meet schedule. Strong running by William Reiber and Mike Al- lard bodes well for upcoming teams. The outstanding per- formance of the year came from Heidi Fischer who, in her first race season, managed to place fifth in Simcoe County in the Open Girls competition and turned that into a phenomenal third at the GBSSA race to qual- ify for OFSAA. At OFSSA in Brampton, Heidi did C.C.I and herself proud with a solid 72nd in very difficult conditions and running against girls older than she. Next year promises to be even better for the entire Cross- Country Running team. Coaches: L. Allard, A. Coukell, D. Knox, and D. Shepherd MID. RT.: In spite oflong hours spent training and running in meets often in cold, rainy weather, the team had time to enjoy each oth- ers company.
