154 Fall Food Drive
Hundreds of Collingwood Collegi- ate students formed a human chain between the school and downtown to pass on almost 6,000 pounds of food to the Salvation Army Food Bank.
The event, organized by the Student's Council and Prefects, drew the attention of motorists passing by the chain.
C.C.I. collected food for two weeks. Bags of non-perishable foodstuffs were passed from student to student until they all ended up at the Sal- vation Army office.
Each homeroom class formed a sec- tion of the chain.
"We always give food at this time," said Prefect Angela Stephenson.
"And so, we thought it's a good way to promote it. It's kind offun and ex- citing."
In total, 5,886 pounds of food were collected to stock the food bank.
The event impressed the Salvation Army's Captain John Mills.
"I think it's wonderful, it's great, it's tremendous," he said. ''I'm just fascinated that the kids organized this . . . certainly there'll be an awareness that there are people wil- ling to help."
