Remembrance Day
Student Life ...
'Remembrance Day Contest
Back in November of this year the Royal Canadian Legion had held a contest to local pub-
lic high schools. Students could do one of three things. They are poster, poem and essay. At C.C.I. two students entered in this competition and came away placed in first and second. Sharon Smith a grade ten student had entered in the poster contest and came in first. Grade twelve student Alison Pollard had came in first for her poem but came in second for
her poster. .
The people at C.C.I. are proud of them both and would like to wish them luck as their poster and poem go on to the next level of competition. Remembrance Day Assembly The staff and sutdents would like to give special thanks to the following for making our Re-
membrance Day a success. Thank you to Sandra Wetheral and Adam Federer for announce- ments, Greg Gibson, Debra Fitzsimmons, Kathy Cruickshank for the singing of Tears In Heaven, all members of Amnesty International, Eli McCaffery for the slide show, and to Alex Glenfield for the tapes. We would also give thanks to all the people we should remem- ber that risked their lives for us all and fought for their country to win peace.
UNITED APPEAL ALIVE AND WELL A T COLLINGWOOD COLLEGIA TE INSTITUTE Once again Collingwood Collegiate staff and students show that they care about people in their communitites. The United Appeal campaign held at the school was a resounding
success with $3,850.00 being raised, twenty-six home rooms participated in the raising of these much needed funds. Dave Davidson's home room, working at a bingo, raised $2,253.00 Carolyn Baxter's home room brought in $281.00, with Mary Gale's adult students raising $210.00. While the actual money raised is important, what is in fact most noteworthy, is that C.C.I. students recognize their responsibility to people in need in their communities. The students all played their part in raising money for United Appeal. Thanks to staff and students for making it happen.
