            V ALEDICTORY ADDRESS
1dies and Gentlemen, graduating students and anyone else who can't wait until this thing over to go home and watch the Jays:
is really good to be back here. It is good to see old faces and the familiar ones, to walk
,wn the halls and through the gym where we have shared many good times and laughter. is good to see all the teachers who helped us through our daily struggles with school 1d with any problems we might have had. I thank you teachers for not only aiding us our learning, but for being friends as well. And I know that the other students feel this
ay too.-
would also like to thank all the custodians, administration and guidance staff for the fort they put into making this building work. Of course, Class of '93, we cannot forget I f parents who have supported us through our endeavours, the dreams and the hard times. :1ank-you parents for all you have done and be proud ofyour kids because they have made
this far and are going to go even farther. But it is not going to be easy. A recent report the Globe and Mail stated that our generation is going to be poorer than our parents, xcept for Jason Arnott). We have been out in the real world for a couple of months now. 'e have made new friends, acquired new wisdom and the future is there in front of us. ile future is like a big staircase and to reach the top we have to take one step at a time
1d live each day to the fullest. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.
is important to remember your past, your roots, where you came from, and what made m what you are today. But be careful not to dwell on the past; just remember the ex- lriences and learn from them. We do not want to go down the staircase of only up . The only thing that matters is what we have right here, right now. To make it today e have to improvise, adapt and overcome. We have to take opportunity as it comes. Other- ise we will be sitting around wondering if we could have made it or not -- if we could 1ve made that team or gotten that job. No goal is too high; if you work for it you can
tain it. Seize the moment, seize the day and make it yours.
lO often we are scared -- scared of what we might be able to do, scared of what people ight think if we tried. We let our fears stand in the way of our hopes. We say, "No" when e want to say, "Yes". We sit quietly when we want to scream, and shout with the others hen we should keep our mouths shut. Why? After all, we only go around once. There's :ally not time to be afraid. So stop. Try something you have never tried. Risk it. Enter triathalon. Write a letter to the editor. Demand a raise. Call winners at the toughest mrt. Throw away your television. Bicycle across Canada. Try bobsledding. Try anything! Jeak out against the designated hitter. Travel to a country where you don't speak the .nguage. Patent something. Ask him or her out. You have nothing to lose and everything 'gain.
m challenging you people to strive to do what you want to do. If you want something, challenge you to go out and get it. I challenge you to be "Master of your Domain". would also like to send a message to the world: Watch out for Collingwood Collegiate's lass of '93! Good luck and God bless.
