Fondly known in Guidance as "Uncle Al, the kiddies' pal", Mr. Alan Truscott retires from Guidance after twenty-one years at Collingwood Collegiate. He was Head of Guidance for eighteen years until June '91. Among the many duties he carried out, two of his favourites were organizing and pro- moting Career Days and visits to the Terry Fox Centre in Ottawa, a program later known as "Encounters Canada".
Physically active, Mr. Truscott worked with many students at noon hour to build those biceps. For years he took an ac- tive part in the Ski Club. Muscles developed in the weight room got another type of workout on the slopes.
As a well-rounded person, Mr. Truscott was culturally ac- tive in school as well. He worked on two musicals as producer for "Guys and Dolls" and "West Side Story". He was also the coach for "Reach for the Top" for several
years and staff advisor for student journalists.
The staff and many students know that AI Truscott was an avid
"biker". His passion for Harley Davidson bikes took him almost all over the continent. CCI students can be sure that Mr. T. really appreciated their retirement gift: a level 4 Model Kit. The com- pleted Harley model pictured above proved to be quite a challenge!
With his wife, Marlene, AI plans to continue enjoying his chil- dren, Sandra and Jeff (both C.C.I. grads), their island cottage, power boating, his new bus-driving venture, and travel -possibly to Arizona. He may not have a lot of that dark hair left, but no moss will grow on him! Here's to many great trips ahead, All
