In their first year, the Hipsters have worked and played hard in the tradition of jazz, rhythmic poetry, and the Hardy Boys. Never afraid to make a bold statement, the Hedonistic Hipsters have at- tempted to add life and just a little colour to school functions.
They are proud of their involvement in assemblies. A select few Hipsters enjoyed a pilgrimage to New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz. So smile and say "Hi" next time a Hipster comes your way, and re- member, "It's not a club, it's a movement!"

FRIENDS OF THE EARTH
C.C.I. is an environmentally ness. From planning April's
friendly place!
Each week the OAC Geography class collects about 15 bags of fine paper for recycling. These classes have also purchased 100 hectares of Amazonian Rain- forest and made significant do- nations to Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Wildlands League of Canada, Pollution Probe, Na- ture Conservancy of Canada, and Canadian Parks and Wil- derness. For the past 3 years C.C.I. students and staff have raised funds for the World Wild- life Fund. Nearly 50 CN Tower climbs have resulted in over $2000 donated to the preserva- tion of endangered species. This year G.A.I.A. (Green Ac- tion Initiatives Alliance) has been involved in improving C.C.I.'s environmental aware-
Earth Day assembly to running a workshop about school natu- ralization, this has been an ac- tive group! Their most ambi- tious project is the building and installation of a greenhouse in the Tech Wing courtyard. This greenhouse is being built by Mr. V anderweerdhofs classes. The project is sponsored by a grant from Canada Trust's "Friends of the Environment" program. PHOTOS: LEFT TOP - Mr. Hunwick's OAC Geography class practice for the CN Tower climb.
