October 1995 saw the people of Quebec involved in a Referendum dealing with the separation of the Province from the Canadian fed- eration. A busload of senior students from C.C.I.'s History, Political Science and French courses left for Ottawa-Hull on October 23 on a Unity Field Trip. The students met with Quebec students to discuss issues, demonstrated for Canadian unity on Parliament Hill, participated in a Unity Rally in Hull and met with a representative of the separatist political party, the Bloc Quebecois, and our local MP, Murray Calder. The students were well received, getting national media attention and mentioned in the House of Commons debates.
