 Public Speaking has always
been wel l represented by CCI Pand this year proved to be no exception . Members of the Public Speaking Team (OPP PG , TOP MID) were Stephanie Bond , Jordan Bond , Brad Jar- man and Angela Hutchinson they entered several competitions . In Winterf- ihey challenged other entrants from grades 9 \C with their speaking skills and Angela Hutch- , was awarded first place and Stephanie Bond ~d second (TOP AT). At the Lions Club, Brad 1an took home a first place plaque and Angela 3 second. At the Legion competition, Angela ~d first, Brad was second and Jordan was third. hanie came first in the Sr. division. Moving on 3 Zone Level , Stephanie continued to hold her >lace position and at the District Level, Angela ned her lead with Stephanie in second place. e time of printing, Angela continues with her king at the Area Level competition . Each year, Gleaner depends upon individuals in Mr. ey's class to go out into the community and idvertisements for the yearbook. This year's ner Ad Team (TOP LT) was composed of: Blair 1sky, James Gordon , Carrie Rogers, Rob ngi (FA) Brent Laing , Brad Wozny and Andrew tleworth. Blair and Carrie are to be congrat- d for their superb efforts! This year we also ~ FACE 2 FACE with a terrific Gleaner Staff
(BOT LT). They excelled in all areas - photography, layout and computer graphics. They worked together, laughed together and occasionally pulled out their hair together. Thank you for making the job of put- ting this yearbook together so much easier. The staff was: Vanessa Espadas, Kirk McNabb, Brynley Leach, Brad Jarman, Ryan Phillips, Sara Blakeman, Patti Lamont, Nathan Brady, Brian VanCampen, Erin Koen, Erin Currie, Kelly Murphy, Lisa Draper, Danielle Fer- guson, Jessica Lougheed , Craig Eberts, Shannon Baker, Jeff Sturch, Mike Sharples, Aimee Listar, Ri- chard Reid and Tom Phillips. Special thanks are also extended to Samantha Smith, Dave McCarl and Mr. Brown. The Outer's Club once again ventured into the wilderness in the fall. After heading for the north- west corner of Algonquin Park, they paddled, por- taged and camped for 5 days. Rain and cold followed the group for most of the journey, but it was unsuc- cessful in preventing all from having a good time. A lot was gained from the trip including some sore muscles, a few sniffles and a great many fond me- mories. (MID LT) Rachel Sutton takes in a beautiful sunset after a day of portaging and paddling. Mem- bers of the fall Outer's Club (MID RT) were: (BK) Ra- chel Sutton , Jen Bitten, Anita Harvey, Laura Phillion, Amanda Beacock, Brinley Brown (FA) Josh Noble, Jessica Synnott, Marcos Pearson, Jen Gourlie + Christa Ford. World Class equals a pinch of ambi- tion, a dash of creativity and a whole Iotta pizazz times 26 energetic students plus 4 enthusiastic teach- ers. Members of the World Class (THIS PG, TOP LT)
were : Brooke Andrews, Marty Barr , Jen Bitten , Jo- lene Bond , Krista Cooper , Sarah Davies , Stepha- nie Fryer, Dwayne Ginn, Jen Gourlie, David Graham, Lisa Hunt, Casey Kinsey, Kira MacNicol, Rob McPherson, Sarah Osburn, Laura Phillion, Tyler Rollins, Rebecca Ross, Jason Ruttan, Josh Sparling, Jessica Synnott, Tiffany Thompson, Heather Valentine, Karen Vandergust + Mark Young. The grade 11 + 12 students took up many challenges. They organized carnation sales, mooch jars + an extremely popular 3 on 3 basketball tour- nament to raise over $600 to continue the tradition of supporting our sister school in El Salvador . They helped make the Harvest Food Drive (MID RT) the most successful ever and included many field trips in their semester by visiting Toronto's Daily Break Food Bank + touring a Mosque + Synagogue. A ·hike in the rain along the Bruce Trail, Middle East Simulations, 'Take Back the Night', tree planting and writing responses to the local media regarding 'church punks' were also part of their busy agenda.
