PUBLIC SPEAKING a t CCI
In the CCI tradition of witty informative and pas- sionate speaking, CCI stu- dents Angela Hutchinson
(BEL LT) and Brad Jarman (TOP LT) once gain cap-
ured top awards in
two separate public speaking competitions in 1998 . Angela took first prize in the Royal Canadian Legion Public Speaking Contest at both the district and zone levels, competing in the Grade 9- 10 division.Angela's speech,
"People Who Inspire Us" was
a reflective piece which examined the inspirational roles people such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Helen Keller
and Angela's own Grade 8 teacher,Mrs. Lepage, play in our lives.Angela also won first place in the Lion's Club Effective Speaking Contest,Grades
9- 10 division, while Brad Jarman took top
honours in the same contest in the Grades 11
to OAC division. Brad's speech was a humourous examination of impulse buying. Lava lamps, Brad? Jeff Sturch (BOT LT) had good reasons
for flying high. He not only achieved
top marks this year, but he, as Madonna,
helped win the Lip Sync. As well, he was
one of the top Gleaner Ad Salespeople.
