he school year began on a most Tunusual note. Initially, the first
day to return to classes was September·1st instead of the traditional after Labour Day date. While teachers walked the picket line, many students enjoyed a few extra days of summer employment and sunshine. The school was technically open, but the bus service had shut down. Two new members of the administration were faced with the challenge of meeting and getting to know 1600 new faces. Everyone was faced with the chal- lenge of getting the school year off
to a positive start.
Throughout this turmoil, one thing remained unchanged. CCI stiU had its' FIGHTING OWL
spirit and no one could take that away!
The building was still experiencing major renovations and parking lots were filled with construction supplies instead of cars. Both staff and students faced
many timetable changes upon the return to school. Some classes had to wait for a teacher, all classes waited for a students card. Uncertainty filled the air. Would there be sports teams? Would there be an opposing teams to play?
