The Ski Club can boast as being the largest and oldest club at CCI. Under the direction of Mr. Sproule and Mr. French, the club heads to the slopes of Blue Mountain for lessons and practice. During recent years however, it has become most evident that snowboarding has become an ever increasingly popular choice of these athletes. Naturally the argument of which is better, skiing or snowboarding, has arisen. According to Blake Amill, it is easy to spot a snowboarder. "They are the ones that wear their pants below the butt area and
they always want to fight. On the other hand, the skiers tend to be very sexy and are extremely well educated." Destiny Shaw, a snowboarder who loves the sport for its' thrills in flying offjumps, has no trouble spotting her fellow boarders. "They wear sweaters with brand names, headphones, baggy pants and skater sh<>es. A skier just looks preppy!" Andrew Lockington, who views the
thought of ~trapping on t\vo boards as easier, can point out the skiers as "cool". The snowboarders? "They are the ones wearing really big boots!" Stephanie
Vandergroef feels that snowboarders are usually skateboarders so they wear the baggy pants and shirts that their parents hate, but their fiiends love." Which sport is better, Stephanie? "Snowboarding is best as this is a new sport and more people want to experience the jumps on a board." Jenna Barr is in total agreement. "Snowboarding is easier to learn and involves a lot ofjumps. Skiing is boring because you just go down the hill!" As the controversy continues, it is noted that most of the equipment being loaded on to the buses are snowboards.
