The Collingwood Collegiate Senior Boys Basketball Team had a very good year in 2001 -2002. The Senior Owls were at times inconsistent on defense but improved their defense throughout the season and were competitive in a very rough league. Highlights of the season included a buzzer-beater victory over Orillia District and a come-from-behind league home win over Barrie Innisdale.
Captain Mike Hillier, 2001 Simcoe County All Star, led the Owls in scoring and was a defensive standout. Danny Demers was the top rebounder and second leading scorer, and Chad Amis was the second leading board man. Elliott Sheaves and Marco Yiu ran the offense while Mike Broadhurst was outstanding on the press and on defense. Jordan Gardhouse was the leading dunker with a slam against the Kodiaks while Justin Visser was clutch as the Orillia killer. Braden McGregor pulled down valuable boards, Dave Shorrock provided strong defense, Alex Trott added perimeter shooting and Darah Queiser contributed more offense punch from
a very deep bench.The Fighting Owls would like to wish the best to graduating Seniors Chad Amis, Mike Hillier, Dave Shorrock and Marco Yiu.
