Day of the Grade 9's!
Entering high school can be a very frightening experience for grade nine students and, therefore, the guidance department, administration, Stu- dents Council, Prefects and teachers extend a helping hand to make the transition smoother. Even before the school year starts, the future 'Fighting Owls' spend the day at CCI during their Grade 8 visits. In September, they are treated to the 'Meet and Greet' barbecue, which they attend with their parents and this allows them an opportunity to visit with teachers. However, the most popular event is 'Grade 9 Day'. On the playing field, teams representing several countries are lead by Prefects through a series of activities like eating crackers and trying to talk, balance beam pillow fight and water balloons. Of course, it is only fitting that the teams would apply paint and costumes to represent their particular nation.
