Win For The Home Crowd
With the vast bulk of an undefeated, OFSSA champion, junior team moving up to the next level, the 2003 Sr. Football season began with a great deal of promise. A short, June pre-season camp and a solid core of returning senior lead- ership gave the Owls one of the largest teams in history with 43 seniors on the roster. Unfortu- nately those facts did not translate into a suc- cessful season in the even column. The 2003 squad, while close to winning every game, usually did not. Mental errors, fumbles, inter- ceptions and penalties at bad times contrib- uted to their 1 and 7 record. On only one occasion were the Owls beaten by the opposi- tion. In the other six losses the squad beat themselves. Highlights from the 2003 season includetheUniversityofWesternOntarioroad trip, playing "under the lights" on artificial turf, and the shower singing Quarterback. The buy in game, which produced a 31-0 CCI vic- tory on a balmy October afternoon also, re- corded the first successful field goal in recent memory. With as many as 25 returning players the Sr. Fighting Owls are poised to make some noise in 2004.
Andrew Falls (TOP LT) is about to lose that smile when he has to do push ups until he drops. Matt Lockhart (TOP CENT) brings his gloves to practice because they play in any weather, rain, snow, sleet, etc. The starting '0' line (TOP RT) breaking from a huddle and are lining up to try for a touch down against Innisdale. Ryan Manchee (LT) goes over the reverse play in his head.Quarterback Matt Harris (RT) has played for the Fighting Owls throughout his high school career.
