Having grown up inBeamsville, Ontario, Kathy attended McMaster University . mghout her career she demonstrated a commitment to life-long learning with tiona! qualifications from York. Queens, U ofT, and Nippissing. Kathy began hmg at CCtin the business department in 1976. In the 1970s, Kathy spearheaded a program in Simcoe County in which students went outinto the workplace. In 1978 lnterprise ,Bulletin wrote, "we hope that CCI finds willing busmess people who will •mmodate a "work week" student." Look at Co-op today! In the 1980s Kathy :gled with the SCDSB to initiate the first adult education program in Simcoe County. s peak there were over 100 adults in Classes at CCI during the regular school day. Often with teary eyes and laughter the students remember the lessons and events that had impact,on their lives. :i 1e classroom "business makeovers'" with dress shop owners, hair dressers and style coaches before anyone thought to put 1 on TV. That's what made Kathy a~pecial teacher- Innovative and creative lessons that were always designed to help ~nt see themselves and their possibilities in a new light, always leading education into new territory while sensing tbeneeds e students. This June the CCI community will lose one of its leading teachers. but the greater community will long benefit 1her years of exemplary teaching.
